Chairman Graham Statement on Sending FY25 Budget Resolution to the Floor
Committee advances blueprint for a fully paid for reconciliation bill to secure the border, revitalize our military, unleash American energy production
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina, Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, today made this statement after the committee voted 11-10 to send the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Senate budget resolution to the floor.
The FY 2025 budget resolution is the blueprint for a fully paid for reconciliation bill to secure the border, bolster our military and increase American energy independence.
“To those who want a more secure border, help is on the way. We have started the process that will give President Trump’s team the money they need to secure the border and to deliver on our promises. Senate Republicans were informed yesterday by the Trump Administration that ICE is running out of money. We cannot afford to lose momentum.
“The Department of Defense will receive $150 billion at one of the most dangerous times in world history, and energy reform is coming. These initiatives will be fully paid for because we will find cuts and other programs to offset the cost of border security and a stronger military.
“By sending this resolution to the floor, the Senate Budget Committee has started the process of delivering the resources that President Trump’s team needs to implement his agenda.
“Finally, I appreciate the discipline of my Republican colleagues on the committee for holding firm. I also appreciate the professionalism displayed by my Democratic colleagues on the committee as they passionately presented their point of view.
“The result of today’s committee vote is an important step toward making America safer and more prosperous.”
