ICYMI: 22 Republican Governors Support Budget Resolution That Provides GOP With Tools Needed To Enact Trump Agenda

WASHINGTON – Following the Senate’s passage of the amended budget resolution, governors from 22 states signed a letter highlighting President Trump’s support for the amended resolution, describing it as a preliminary step to unlocking a bill that will deliver on Republicans’ promises to the American people.

Key excerpts from the letter:

  • We are on your side in supporting the Senate amendment to the House budget resolution because we know that failure cannot be an option. The Democrats’ open border policies created a deadly flood of illegal immigrants in all our states. Inflation and punishing energy regulations have siphoned money from the pocketbooks of families. Without an extension of your Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, taxpayers will suffer a multi-trillion-dollar tax hike.”
  • “We, like you, understand that more must be done to fully implement the agenda for which millions of Americans voted to see realized. In particular, Congress must deliver to your desk a reconciliation bill that reinforces your executive actions and codifies in permanent law policies to secure the border, unleash American energy, restore military supremacy, fight wasteful spending, prevent a debilitating tax hike on working class Americans, and prevent a debt default.”
  • “We believe this budget resolution sets a strong foundation on which to build. It provides congressional Republicans with the tools they need to enact the entire Trump agenda. Again, we thank you for supporting this budget so Congress can start putting pen to paper on the one, big, beautiful bill that will Make America Great Again.”

The letter was signed by Governors Kay Ivey (Alabama), Mike Dunleavy (Alaska), Sarah Sanders (Arkansas), Brian Kemp (Georgia), Brad Little (Idaho), Mike Braun (Indiana), Kim Reynolds (Iowa), Jeff Landry (Louisiana), Tate Reeves (Mississippi), Mike Kehoe (Missouri), Greg Gianforte (Montana), Jim Pillen (Nebraska), Kelly Armstrong (North Dakota), Kevin Stitt (Oklahoma), Henry Dargan McMaster (South Carolina), Larry Rhoden (South Dakota), Bill Lee (Tennessee), Greg Abbott (Texas), Spencer Cox (Utah), Glenn Youngkin (Virginia), Patrick Morrisey (West Virginia), Mark Gordon (Wyoming).
