Conrad Statement on Sarah Kuehl's Selection to be Dpty Staff Dir of Joint Select Cmte on Deficit Reduction
Washington, D.C. – Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad released the following statement today on the selection of Sarah Kuehl, one of his long-time Budget Committee aides and an expert on health care policy and federal entitlement programs, to serve as Deputy Staff Director of the new Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction.
“Sarah Kuehl is an outstanding choice to serve as Deputy Staff Director of the Joint Committee. Sarah has an encyclopedic knowledge of federal entitlement programs and a strong appreciation of how changes to those programs will impact the American people. She is highly-regarded by both Democrats and Republicans and knows how to build consensus and find common ground. Sarah is an invaluable asset to me on the Budget Committee and I know she will make a tremendous contribution to the work of the Joint Committee.”
Sarah Kuehl has worked on the Senate Budget Committee staff since 2001 and currently serves as Senior Budget Analyst for Medicare and Social Security. Over her more than ten years of service to the Committee, she has played a key role in the development of health care and retirement legislation. Prior to joining the Budget Committee, she worked as a Legislative Assistant for former Senator Bob Kerrey (D-NE). Sarah holds an MPP from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a BA in History and Public Policy from the University of Denver.
